These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of TrueScope. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.
By accessing or using TrueScope, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
TrueScope is an independent renovation cost-intelligence platform. We provide informational estimates and benchmarks built from real permit data, our proprietary database of executed renovation contracts, and current market conditions.
TrueScope is not a licensed contractor, architect, engineer, appraiser, attorney, or financial advisor, and nothing on the platform is professional, legal, financial, construction, or appraisal advice. Our verdicts and ranges are informational reference points, not guarantees of price, quality, or outcome, and not a recommendation to hire or not hire any contractor. We are independent: we do not endorse, recommend, rank, or disparage any contractor. Decisions about your project are yours to make.
You must be at least 18 years old to use TrueScope. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for safeguarding your account credentials (managed through our authentication provider). You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
TrueScope is free for homeowners. We also offer paid plans for contractors and realtors. The features, prices, and billing cycle for any paid plan are described at sign-up and on the relevant plan page, and apply when you subscribe.
You retain ownership of the documents and information you submit. You represent that you have the right to upload what you submit and that doing so does not violate any third party’s rights or any agreement you are bound by.
You grant TrueScope a non-exclusive license to process your submissions to provide the service, and to retain the information derived from them — including line items, costs, property addresses, and the contractor and business details named in a proposal — to operate, maintain, and improve the platform, to build our benchmarks, and to verify market outcomes against public records. We keep this information secure and use it only internally; we do not sell it, display it publicly, or use it to route homeowners to contractors, as described in our Privacy Policy.
When using TrueScope, you agree not to:
The platform, including its software, design, text, benchmarks, and the compilation and arrangement of data, is owned by TrueScope or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the platform for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrueScope disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that benchmarks, ranges, or verdicts are accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your specific project, or that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free. Estimates depend on data that varies in coverage and quality and on conditions outside our control. You are responsible for independently verifying costs and for any decisions you make.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrueScope and its officers, members, and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim relating to the platform will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TrueScope from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these terms or of any law or third-party right.
You may stop using TrueScope at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or to protect the platform or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Massachusetts will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not otherwise resolved, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
